Question: Clothes made in other country?
There are clothes made in china, mexico, usa, india, and around the world. Some companies buy clothes from china in bulks and print them over here. So my question is, what constitute as “Made in USA” or “Made in China”? is it the location of the final production(after printing the designs) or where the clothes(material) was assembled.

It is the place where some of the manufacturing is done. If it says, ’100%’ then it is all made in that country. But if it just says made in China, 80% of the process could have been done somewhere completely different
Question: Why don’t Americans consider buying an American made car ?
I know we’ve been burned in the past with quality issues from American auto manufacturers. However, if you study the quality numbers, American cars are right there with the foreign manufacturers. Why won’t most Americans consider buying an American made car and supporting “made in the USA”. Thousands of jobs are related to auto industry, if they go, so does the national economy.

Question: What percentage of all the products at Wal-Mart are made in China?
It’s a challenge to find a product “Made in the USA” at Wal-Mart that is not food or a chemical. What about the clothes, hardware, electronics, or anything else?

the “Made in the USA” slogan was just a gimmick employed by Sam Walton. There are some things that are made in USA, but most are going to be from cheaper-to-produce countries. After all, they are in business to make money.
Question: does canada charge customs duty for objets made in the USA?
i want to buy a davis weather station and on ambientweather.com it says, and i quote, “proudly made in the USA.” because of the NAFTA(north american free-trade agreement) aren’t i suppose to avoid those duties? beacause when i proceed to checkout, it still charges me the 40$ -or-so import duty. Why?????

Answer courtesy of www.learntoimport.com – Starting an import business can be EASY!
Under NAFTA a product must be mostly the produce of one of the NAFTA countries.
To be called MADE IN THE USA a product simply has to be transformed in the USA. So if the manufacturer makes this product in the USA from imported parts it would not qualify under NAFTA but could still be called MADE IN THE USA. However $ 40.00 seems a little steep.
Perhaps they are padding the price to increase their profit?

Toyota is Japanese and uses 35%-50% of American parts. Yes they are made here in USA. But GM has the most cars made here in USA. But Some Chrysler and Fords are made in Canada.

Question: It’s Getting Harder and Harder to Find Tools and Appliances not Made in China. Is There a Website or List…?
of places which routinely stock American made items? I have found consistently that stuff made in China does not hold up or perform as well. I believe in keeping Americans working, and I’d prefer to buy American whenever possible, especially in this economy. If you go someplace like Walmart it’s especially hard to find anything with “Made in USA” on it, even the American flags. Walmart used to be dedicated to stocking American made merchandise.

For hand tools, I prefer S-K, Klein and Snap-on for their quality.
That said, I have to say that Japan makes the very best cameras. I don’t even know of a good SLR camera that is made in the US. In fact, I don’t know of any cameras made in the US.
Question: Buying a made in the USA shirt?
companies constantly use the “to keep prices down, and to remain competitive” excuse for the outsourcing of American jobs. I just returned from the mall, and found that I could not purchase a single “made in the USA” shirt. however, there were plenty of shirts made in southeast asia. most of these shirts were approximately $ 50, I would imagine that someone in southeast asia is making about 10 cents an hour, and can probablly produce 10 shirts an hour. with labor materials added to the equation, the shirt probablly costs about a dollar. yet it is sold for $ 50. Does anyone see the irony here?

if you opened a factory here in U.S. to make shirts, the employees would want a union, then they would want higher wages and health insurance and retirement and vacation days, sick pay, holidays paid, etc etc. You’d have to pay un-employment tax, half of their social security tax and so on and so on till you would have to charge $ 100. to make the same shirt,, and it would be lower quality cuz your American workers wouldn’t have any pride in what they do and wouldn’t appreciate the job.
Shirts will continue to be made offshore,,
Question: Which kitchen appliances are made in the USA?
I am looking to purchase a suite of kitchen appliances: gas range (freestanding oven), over-range microwave, and dishwasher. Which appliance companies still make their products in the United States? Whirlpool’s listings on Sears.com say “Built with American Pride,” but does that mean “Made in the USA?” Thank you.

As far as I know, Whirlpool, which makes many brands of appliances, still makes them in the US. Call their corporate offices and find out for sure.
